Either way it is both an abreviation and we are way to dependent on abbreviating things so for this blog I’m gonna stick to wedding. I was on google this morning and I typed in the wedding of the church in google images, and I got pictures of beautiful church buildings like this
Which is absolutely beautiful in and of itself. This place probably has so much history and worth it would be unbelievable to value all of this. I also got pictures of wedding decorations in weddings like:
Where you can tell people put so much time and energy and money into making this church look like the most beautiful setting for a wedding that anyone around has ever seen. After all at your wedding don’t you want it to be the most beautiful thing that everyone who comes has ever seen. It says something about your wedding when it is represented but such an array of beautiful decor. But it only vaguely compares to the overwhelming beauty of the bride in the wedding:
While the bride stands down at the end of the aisle everyone is looking at her, because she is so attractive but yet she is going to meet the groom. The real picture I was looking for was actually none of these I was looking for some picture that would truly represent the church body as a whole in a wedding with Jesus. This is the greatest “wedd” of all time, this is the one we are all waiting for, our moment when we can open the doors and step down the aisle and walk towards our groom. When everyone is looking at the bride the bride is looking at the groom and the groom is gazing back with the most sincere love of all. This is what Jesus is showing us, as we gaze upon him ready to be with him for all of eternity he is gazing upon us with a love that is almost so unbearable, we are trapped in the gaze of his love. And it feels so good. That is what I mean by the “wedding of the church” not the beautiful building or the decorations for the wedding or the dress or the candles or statues in the church. But instead I wanted to see a picture that represents this beautiful joining of Christ with his church, but I realize that this picture is not something that we can find on the internet but it is a picture in which we live out daily. The wedding of the church is the story of our lives, the story of Christ’s love set out for us every day as we awake just like breakfast in bed. We are truly treated like the princess to the prince. Yet he is the King!
